A New Year’s Wish for Palestine’s Children

Photo by Zac Frith on Pexels.com

Where laughter once echoed, a somber tune now weaves,

In Palestine, distant eyes reflect flames, childhood’s rays it thieves.

Imagine dreams, dandelion seeds, fragile and light,

In broken playgrounds, shadows dance, stealing their bright.

No swings, no slides, just fragments where joy once stood,

As we enjoy cozy meals, their simple dinners misunderstood.

Yet, these kids deserve to be happy, to celebrate the New Year’s cheer,

Dreaming of laughter and joy, as the dawn of hope draws near.

In tear-streaked faces, innocence gently fades away,

Children once chasing butterflies, now in shadows, forced to stay.

Laughter’s melody, now silent, replaced by unheard sighs,

Through the ruins, their sanctuary, a tale that makes hearts wise.

In a world stripped of hope, where loneliness takes its toll,

As we celebrate, let our hearts embrace their story, whole.

In this season of joy, let compassion gently guide,

A light in their darkness, where hope and love coincide.

For the kids in Palestine, their tales close to our heart,

Strong as dandelion seeds, resilient from the start.

In this happy season, let’s pledge kindness anew,

A promise to make their world brighter, dreams anew.

Every child, every place, deserves laughter and cheer,

Let’s unite to wipe away each silent tear.

For the kids in Palestine, our care, a solemn vow,

To build a world of peace and love, starting now.

This is the question

When you have a tiff, are you the one to make the first move and apologize?
Absolutely! Whenever there’s a disagreement, I like to take a moment to think about what happened. If I realize I made a mistake, I’m always ready to take the first step and offer a genuine apology. On the other hand, if I believe I’m not at fault, I’m more than happy to patiently wait for the other person to understand or maybe even offer their own apology. It’s really about being open and honest, finding ways to work things out together, and ultimately strengthening our relationship.

No Nonsense – Saturday Mix, 23 December 2023

Sarah is our host for the MLMM Saturday Mix.  You can join in here

This prompt is a fantastic idea and not at all nonsense! A big thank you to Sarah, the host, for coming up with such an enjoyable and creative concept. It’s been a delightful exercise in imagination and wordplay. Kudos for the great prompt!

Your nonsense word this week is: “auffindisps”
Definition:
Auffindisps (noun): The magical moments of luck and surprise that lead you to unexpected and delightful discoveries, like stumbling upon hidden treasures or finding that perfect slice of pizza when you least expect it. It’s the universe’s way of winking at you and saying, “Enjoy the unexpected joy!”

Husband: “Hey, honey, have you heard of ‘auffindisps’?”

Wife: “Auffin-what now?”

Husband: “Auffindisps! It’s like those magical breadcrumbs of fate that lead you to awesome discoveries.”

Wife: Raises an eyebrow “Magical breadcrumbs? You mean like when I find your socks randomly scattered around the house?”

Husband: “Exactly! Those are the auffindisps of cozy toes!”

Wife: Laughs “Alright, so what’s the deal with these auffindisps?”

Husband: “Well, imagine you’re searching for the TV remote, and suddenly you find a hidden stash of chocolate. That’s the sweet surprise of auffindisps!”

Wife: “Ah, so it’s the universe’s way of saying, ‘Forget the remote, enjoy some chocolate’?”

Husband: “Precisely! It’s like a cosmic nudge in the right direction.”

Wife: “Alright, I’m on board. But can auffindisps help you find your car keys for once?”

Husband: “Hmm, let’s not push it. Auffindisps work in mysterious ways, my dear.”

Disclaimer: Auffindisps may not be responsible for locating misplaced car keys, but they guarantee a sprinkle of unexpected joy in your everyday adventures. Side effects may include laughter, surprise, and an increased appreciation for magical sock journeys.

Share your world 18th December

This week, Di is hosting and has posed some questions about festive gatherings. Here are my responses:

1.  Do you enjoy or get frustrated with the run up to the festive holidays?

The festive season, for me, is like a cherished chapter in the book of life, filled with pages of joy, warmth, and enchantment. It’s more than just a time of the year; it’s a magical space where the heart swells with affection and the spirit dances to the rhythm of shared moments and laughter.

What I hold dearest is the age-old tradition of gathering with my family. It’s during these festive embraces that the fabric of our togetherness is woven, creating a beautiful tapestry adorned with the threads of love and connection. The air is filled with the sweet melody of shared stories, hearty laughter, and the genuine warmth that radiates from being surrounded by those who matter most.
2.  Do you like family gatherings on a regular basis?

In our day-to-day, the usual family get-togethers can lose a bit of their sparkle. But let me tell you, when we don’t meet up often, there’s this special joy that just blooms. Those rare gatherings become like finding a hidden treasure—so magical and profound. It’s like turning ordinary times into something extraordinary, making each reunion feel like a real celebration. It just hits you that it’s not about how often we meet but the real heart-to-heart connection and love we share that truly matters.
3.  What is your favourite family memory?
My favorite family memories are numerous, but if I have to pick one, it would be the celebrations around my wedding and my brother’s marriage. Those moments are extra special to me, filled with joy and love. The union of our families and the shared happiness make these occasions my absolute favorites.

I also hold dear the times spent with my sisters during gatherings. I really miss those moments—the warmth, shared stories, and the closeness we felt. Each of these memories is like a precious gem in the treasure chest of my family experiences.
4.  Do you prefer to be a host or visitor for a special occasions?

I enjoy both roles, but so far, I’ve been the host for every party. As the elders in our family, everyone usually comes to us, and we end up being the hosts. While I appreciate the responsibility, I also look forward to the day when I can be a visitor. It seems like it would be a lot of fun to experience the festivities from the perspective of a guest rather than always hosting the party.

gratitude:Grateful for enchanting family moments and festive warmth, cherishing rare joys of infrequent reunions and precious memories as heart gems. Eager for the chance to be a visitor, thankful for diverse perspectives. Reflecting on this week’s questions fills me with deep gratitude for the richness family and festive occasions bring to my life.
